AJ Dybantsa Rookie Cards: Which to Buy and What They're Worth

AJ Dybantsa's NBA rookie cards haven't been released yet, but his 1st Bowman Chrome cards already sell: a Gold /50 autograph sold for $925 in October 2026, while his unsigned 1st Bowman Chrome lists for a few dollars. Here's what exists, what it costs, and what to buy now.

What is AJ Dybantsa's rookie card?

Strictly speaking, AJ Dybantsa doesn't have a full NBA rookie card yet. The Washington Wizards took him first overall in the 2026 NBA Draft, and his first official rookie cards are in 2026-27 Topps Flagship Basketball, where he is the cover athlete. Topps lists the set for November 5, 2026, though some reports give an earlier October date.

What collectors are buying right now are his "1st Bowman" cards from his season at BYU: the first cards Topps' Bowman brand made of him, marked with a "1st Bowman" logo. The hobby calls these pre-rookie cards. For the most hyped prospects they often sell for more than the rookie cards that follow, because they came first.

  • 2025-26 Bowman Chrome Prospect Autographs (#CPA-AD): his first signed Bowman Chrome card, and the card his market is built around. It comes in numbered color versions, from the Refractor /499 down to the Gold /50 and Orange /25.
  • 2025-26 Bowman Chrome Prospects (#BCP-1): the unsigned version, card #1 in the set, with its own numbered parallels.
  • 2025-26 Bowman University Best "Best of 2025" Autographs and Topps Chrome McDonald's All American Billboard Ink autographs: signed cards from his college and high school all-star days.
  • 2026 Topps Now NBA Draft (#ADYB): a card Topps sold online for a short window after draft night. It carries the rookie (RC) logo, but it isn't part of a full set.
  • 2026-27 Topps Flagship: his first official NBA rookie cards, due out in November 2026.

The card that leads his market: the 1st Bowman Chrome autograph

His 2025-26 Bowman Chrome Prospect Autograph (#CPA-AD) is the card collectors treat as his key card: signed, from his first Bowman set, with the shiny chrome finish. The numbered color versions are where the money goes. The fewer copies a color has, the more it sells for.

The Gold version of his 1st Bowman Chrome autograph, numbered to 50 (only 50 copies exist). #1 on our AJ Dybantsa list

A Gold /50 sold for $925 on eBay on October 6, 2026, and an ungraded copy was listed at $1,099.99 on October 17. The rarer Orange /25 is pricier still: a PSA 10 was listed at $2,995 the same day.

What's realistic at different budgets

His market skips the middle: there are cheap unsigned cards and there are autographs, and not much in between. All prices below are live eBay asking prices from October 17, 2026, or sales with their dates.

  • Under $50: the unsigned 2025-26 Bowman Chrome Prospects card (#BCP-1), his base 1st Bowman Chrome. Copies listed for a few dollars on October 17.
  • $300 to $500: the base signed 1st Bowman Chrome autograph (#CPA-AD). One sold for $296 in July 2026, and a PSA 9 listed at $490 on October 17. A Blue /150 autograph sold for $435 on October 6.
  • $900 and up: the Gold /50 autograph (sold for $925 on October 6) and above it the Green /99, Purple /250 and Orange /25 graded copies, listed from $979.99 to $2,995 on October 17.

The base 1st Bowman Chrome autograph is the one to buy

It's the same signed first card that the $925 Gold /50 is a color version of, at around a third of the price. If you want one AJ Dybantsa card that will still matter after his rookies come out, this is it.

Tip

Waiting for his 2026-27 Topps rookie cards is reasonable too. Base rookies from a new flagship set usually start out cheap and widely available, so there's no rush to pay up for one in the first weeks.

Graded vs. raw

"Raw" means ungraded. A graded card has been checked and sealed in a plastic case by a grading company such as PSA, with a condition score out of 10. Chrome cards show every scratch and off-center print, so a PSA 10 (gem mint) can ask far more than a PSA 9 of the same card. On October 17 a Purple /250 autograph in PSA 10 was listed at $1,600, while a base autograph in PSA 9 asked $490.

For an autograph, a PSA 9 is a sensible middle ground: nearly perfect, without the premium a 10 carries. For a cheap unsigned card, buying raw is fine. Grading costs more than the card is worth.

How to avoid a wrong listing

  1. Check it says Bowman Chrome, not just Bowman. His paper Bowman autographs (#PA-AY) come in a Blue /150 too, but they're a different, cheaper card than the Chrome Blue /150 (#CPA-AD).
  2. Check the card number: #CPA-AD for the Chrome autograph, #BCP-1 for the unsigned Chrome card. Sellers also call the set "Bowman U Chrome" or "Bowman Chrome U". The number tells you which card it really is.
  3. Check the serial number on numbered cards. A Gold /50 is stamped with its number out of 50 on the card. If the photo doesn't show it, ask.
  4. Topps Now draft cards come in a regular version (#ADYB) and a short-printed photo variation (#ADYB-SP) that asks far more. Make sure you're paying for the one in the photo.
  5. For any autograph over a few hundred dollars, prefer a graded copy. Our PSA vs. BGS vs. SGC guide and our guide to spotting altered or fake graded cards cover what to check.
