Privacy Policy

Browsing Sports Card Hunt doesn’t create an account or a profile. We don’t collect names, addresses, or payment information, because we never ask for them. The personal information we handle is an email address, and only if you choose to submit one — via a newsletter signup form (passed straight through to our email provider, Beehiiv; never stored on our own servers) or a card-hunt request at /hunt (see below). If you don’t use either, we don’t have your email.

If you submit a card-hunt request via /hunt, we collect your email address and the details of what you’re looking for (card, grade, budget, timeline, and any notes). We use this only to work on your request and reply with what we find — it’s not sold, shared with advertisers, or used for anything else. You can ask us to delete your request at any time via Contact.

eBay — card photos on this site are pulled from eBay listings, updated daily, and our “See it on eBay” links are affiliate links (we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you — see About). Clicking through to eBay is subject to eBay’s own privacy policy and cookies, which we don’t control. To confirm a purchase came from one of our links (so the commission is attributed correctly), we also run a tracking script from Impact.com — the platform eBay Partner Network uses for affiliate attribution. It can set its own cookie while you’re still on this site, separate from anything eBay sets after you click through.

Arena Club (via Rakuten Advertising) — our slab-pack links are affiliate links: if you buy after clicking one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. The link passes through Rakuten, which can set its own cookie to attribute the purchase; we don’t load any Rakuten script on this site.

Fanatics (via Impact.com) — the jerseys-and-gear link on player pages is an affiliate link: if you buy after clicking it, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. The link passes through Impact, which can set its own cookie to attribute the purchase.

Email provider (Beehiiv) — if you sign up for our newsletter, your email is sent to Beehiiv along with a few details that help us send you relevant emails: the page you signed up on (and its player and sport), your answer to the optional “what do you usually spend?” question, and any player you asked us to cover. (A “Request a player” submission itself is emailed to us through our form provider, Formspree.) Beehiiv handles it under its own privacy policy; we don’t store it ourselves. Every email has an unsubscribe link.

Hosting — like virtually any website, our hosting provider (Vercel) automatically logs standard technical information (IP address, browser type, pages requested) as part of normal operation and security. We don’t use this to identify individual visitors.

We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand which pages and players are popular, roughly where visitors are browsing from (country/region level, not precise location), and what people search for on the site — so we know which players to research and add next. It’s privacy-first by design: no cookies, no cross-site tracking, and no data that identifies you personally. We see aggregate patterns (“search for X came up empty 40 times this week”), never an individual’s browsing history.

We also use PostHog to see heatmaps and session recordings of how people navigate the site (clicks, scrolling, taps), with typed text masked — this helps us find confusing layouts or broken flows. We never attach your name or email to it. PostHog sets its own cookie to group activity into a session; see PostHog’s privacy policy for details on how it handles data.

Our own page-view analytics is cookieless, and we don’t run advertising cookies. Two exceptions: our affiliate-tracking script (Impact.com, described above) can set a cookie to attribute an eBay purchase back to your click here, which is how we get paid; and PostHog (described above) sets a cookie to group your activity into a session for its heatmaps and recordings. Separately, we store a light/dark mode preference in your browser’s local storage — it never leaves your browser and isn’t linked to you personally. You can clear any of this anytime via your browser’s site settings.

Sports Card Hunt is a general-audience hobby and research site and isn’t directed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children.

Every email from our provider includes an unsubscribe link. Since we don’t store your email ourselves, unsubscribing there is the complete opt-out. You can also block or clear local storage/cookies at any time in your browser settings — the site works fine without them (it just forgets your theme preference and reverts to your device’s setting).
